Our Core Values
At East Carolina Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, our mission is to equip students with the knowledge to not only protect themselves but to learn a valuable skillset that stays with them no matter how long they choose to practice the art. There are no limits to the knowledge that you will gain on the mats. Something new is learned every time you slap hands. It grows with you. The process of how you face and handle challenges during training helps to better your ability to confront situations that you face in daily living. Here at ECBJJ, you are provided with every tool to help you succeed on and most importantly off the mats. Our values are rooted heavily on the respect of others who step in our academy. We meet you where you are and the teammates that you train with will roll along side you during your jiu-jitsu journey. At ECBJJ you will never find yourself alone in your journey. Our core values and beliefs go beyond the belt you wear and the medals you receive. Our request is that you keep showing up because that is when you truly level up. Our core value when summed up is that it is not just a martial art...it is a lifestyle.
Our Training Methodology
The ECBJJ academy interweaves our core values with jiu-jitsu application for real life self-defense or competition. A structured curriculum is taught with the mindset that each body is uniquely created. We specialize in skill acquisition for those seeking self-defense and competition. Our instructors are highly skilled practitioners that have a genuine desire to share their knowledge and teach others. Many of our instructors have become mentors for others even outside of jiu-jitsu. Our instructors can guide you through your journey whether you are here for a casual roll or are looking for more competitive training.
Our Outreach
We, here at ECBJJ, believe in not only providing martial arts training, but we believe in providing and giving back to the community. We have multiple opportunities throughout the year where we are able to give to local charities, missions, and families in need. Our staff and members have helped proudly donate through our benefit seminars. We are very grateful for the positive outreach that ECBJJ and its members have in our academy and in our community; and we look forward to all we are able to do in the future.
Our Students
Our students tell our story. The members of ECBJJ and their families are what make our academy so memorable. Our school has become a home to many over the years. Even when life has changed their trajectory and they find themselves on the other side of world, in far away places, they still call ECBJJ home. It is no surprise that the moment they find their way back on the East Coast, they make sure to stop back in for a roll. Each member that joins gets more than just training in self-defense and jiu-jitsu. They gain a community of friends. There is no greater honor at ECBJJ than providing an environment where everyone feels welcome. It may take time to get good at jiu-jitsu, but it takes no time at all to find a friendly face on the mats. We hope to see your face soon!
